It's All About the Soil

Organic Grains

Yield and quality is everything. Your choice of inputs can make or break a crop.

Alfalfa Green is the ultimate soil amendment. With over 30 nutrients in every pellet you provide your grain crop with a full compliment of essential micronutrients needed for a great harvest.

Alfalfa Green is 88% organic matter, making each 4mm pellet a miniature “sponge” to hold soil moisture and make it available to the crop when needed. This feature can make or break a crop if soil moisture is low during the germination stage.

Putting alfalfa ahead of grain crops in a rotation is a time-proven method for increasing yield while lowering input costs. Rather than plow-down alfalfa, drill it in with your grain crop to get the same results without taking land out of production.

Application

Alfalfa Green is extremely versatile. The 4mm pellets can be broadcast or drilled in with the crop. Alfalfa Green can be used as a stand-alone fertilizer, or used in combination with other organic or conventional inputs. Alfalfa Green has shown to improve the efficacy of synthetic fertilizers by supplying the organic matter required to hold water soluble nutrients.

Apply Alfalfa Green with conventional fertilizer applicators or air-seeders. An application rate of 200-500 lbs per acre is recommended.

When applying Alfalfa Green with a seeder set at 2” opening and 7” row spacing at a rate of 200 lbs / acre you will put down 15 lbs of Nitrogen / acre beside the seed.

Results

Alfalfa Green has proven to improve overall vigour of grain crops and lessen stress from disease or pest pressure. Triacontanol is a growth regulator that is naturally occurring in alfalfa and is proven to help protect plants from abiotic stress such as moisture extremes, nutrient deficiency, and soil salinity.

Growers who use Alfalfa Green report higher yields and elevated protein in the grain.

This was the second year there have been no synthetic fertilizer inputs in this soil. I was thrilled with the results, and I think the soil will only improve with continued use of Alfalfa Green.
